1983 Recipient - Dr. Monroe Moosnick
Chairman of Science and Math, Transylvania University
Monroe Moosnick received his B.S. from the University of Kentucky, his M.S. from the University of Cincinnati, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University. He taught chemistry at Transylvania University for 38 years, served as Chairman for the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics, and was the Coordinator of Alumni Affairs, Faculty Emeritus. He was also the Curator of the Natural Science Museum. Moosnick, was the first winner of the Edgar Ewing Brandon Award--given to the outstanding faculty advisor each year. He also served as the National Education Director.
Moosnick served his community as a member of numerous religious and civic organizations, including the B'nai Brith, Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation, Masonic Lodge, Ohavay Zion Synagogue, Lexington-Fayette County Environmental Commission, Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Order of Omega, and Omicron Delta Kappa.
