1986 Recipient - Honorable Scotty Baesler

Mayor of Lexington

As Mayor of Lexington from January 1982 - January 1993, Scotty Baesler was involved in several projects that have been beneficial to the Lexington community. These projects include, but are not limited to: Construction of Man O War Boulevard; acquisition of 1,000 acres of park land; redevelopment of downtown; construction and operation of the Family Care Center.

Scotty also served in the United States Congress from 1993 - 1998, were he was instrumental in pushing for campaign finance reform and fiscal integrity along with the other Congressional Blue Dog Democrats.

Since his service in Congress, Scotty has been a partner, with his wife Alice, in operating a tobacco farm and serving as a consultant to Kentuckians interested in doing business with Cuba.
